A made to measure TV and display unit with cabinetry for AV equipment in a client's holiday home. Symmetry and colour palette were the two main requirements. The blue is representative of Scotland ‘s national colour and symmetry across the piece as a whole satisfied the client’s preference.
The unit fits in with the existing styling and decor, contrasting with the oak flooring and white walls.
A TV and ornamental display unit paired with practical cabinetry for AV storage and other items that sat confidently within the restrictions of the radiator on the left and the exit to the balcony area to the right.
Inspiration images were shared by the client early on to funnel the direction of the design process. The colour blue was chosen to match the apartments style and colour palette which is inspired by the sky and sea which has a symbolic connection to the apartment’s location in Edinburgh.
The upper open shelving was designed as a display for books, ornaments and pictures and the main focus of the piece. The TV is placed in the centre with hidden cables routed into the cabinet below for power and connection to the AV source and Internet.

Careful consideration was taken when designing this portion to account for the projection from the door cill on the right. The client had come to the conclusion that the doors would be different sizes to account for this but as the picture shows the design neatly incorporated the projection into the scribe piece. The same size filler panel was applied at the opposite end of the cabinets allowing for the doors to remain identical in size.
""Careful planning and sequencing were essential, and strict dust management measures were maintained throughout to protect the existing finishes and ensure a clean, controlled working environment.
The finished product is a balanced design that sits comfortably within the room. Ample shelf space either side of the TV add balance. The depth of Farrow & Ball Stone Blue adds visual weight, contrasting cleanly against the white walls and oak flooring while giving the piece a clear presence without being too overpowering.
